i dont know. i'm one of those people who goes for taste over heat.
i try to give my chili actual flavor. anyone can give heat, thats the easy part.
some of the stuff i use are green peppers and garlic (lots of it, a whole bulb of it)
i've never put actual hot peppers in my chili, never had to, the seasonings made up for it. after all the longer you simmer it the hotter it gets and
i simmer mine for hours, i dont just cook it up and serve it. i also never get complaints about my chili from anyone. people USE to complain about
how hot it was and since then i've gone for taste over heat. just to see how i can improve upon the taste of it and give it a complex flavor.
i've been using two different beans, black beans and "chili beans". i'm thinking of using black eyed peas once just for kicks
