Unfortunately, the Internet crowd are a tough lot to please. I'm guilty myself of making a cheap jibe, but it's only out of sheer amazement for an incredible story.

Not really - it's just a matter of how easy it is to hoax stories on the internet, so those looking for the "truth" have come to develop a criteria to filter out the hoaxes. You've laid that out well, right here:

Until all the facts are on the table, I'm on the fence with this one. But as the member 'Hydden' says on the other forum link, people are dying to believe a story like this.

That's exactly right. Until the facts are on the table... The current state of the matter is this - we're watching all avenues of "verification" very closely. There are several people close to this story who are likely to be the ones to verify his claims. We're watching for word that the evidence has been handed over, and when we hear that, we'll be quick to report it.

The problem is - so far there's no word there's any such evidence handed over. There are rumors of "witnesses"....the problem with witnesses are that they aren't evidence unless their credentials can be validated. If he offers a witness to the Vietnam event, hopefully it won't be some "covert ops" soldier who's credentials can't be verified (that's not evidence...). However if the witness is obviously ex-military, with records that can be verified - that is evidence! I hope that's what turns up.

To answer the question...where do things stand? Right now, as far as we know, no evidence has been offered.

As I posted last on the thread you quoted:

I think if Duncan is telling the truth (and he very well could be) - then validation certainly isn't impossible. It'll just be where and when he wants it to be. Again - if the story is true, that's perfectly fine with me - at least eventually we'll see the truth of it.

I do hope it isn't "proof" in the form of some unverifiable "covert ops witness" who's credentials can't be verified. lol I'm sure, if it's true, the scans, x-rays, and medical analysis will be verified by medical experts as valid. That's what I'll be waiting for.

I can understand why Duncan, if telling the truth, might get upset by immediately being asked for "proof"....it's the nature of the beast and I don't blame him for getting insulted by those questions. I just hope, in good time, they are answered and the truth does come out. When it comes to validating a true story - nothing's impossible. The only thing that's impossible is validating a hoax.

Let's hope this story is eventually proven true.

I am calling BS. I have read his web site and the thread on the other Discussion board. I gave this guy a check on military.com web site. His name comes up as a member but it looks like his creds are being scrutinized at this point. Also is as some one elso pointed out with his kung fu mojo, nothing is comming up with that either. His claims would be easy to confirm with a simple xray, which the other board offered to pay for. I dont even think its his real name. I think he is nothing more than an attention starved person or some one who is trying to market a movie in the making. Believe if you want to, but I would not get my hopes up that this one was true.

Sadly, I am unable to access his interview on Wintersteel. I keep getting an error 404 message.

I did a Google on him (I know ... Not the be all to end all)... And everything keeps coming up with the same lead in. It's kind of like he, all the sudden appeared, put out a lot of PR, and then disappeared. Although I did find this on Revere Radio forums:

www.revereradio.net...

Where, apparently, he has decided to run to ground.

I am sorry that I can't find any references to his martial arts history. I have some pretty extensive contacts in the world of martial arts, and might be able to track an otherwise untrackable person's history.

Oh, and one more interesting little thing, for what it is worth, at the bottom of Wintersteel website, I found this little tidbit:

Winter Steel © Copyright 2001-2007, U.S. WinterSteel Productions.

Produced by:
Shana [Nina] & Robert Duncan O'Finioan [Grey Feather]

Why is it that when googling his name + martial arts not 1 martial arts site comes up with anything about him?

You would think that a person with his Dan ranks and various degrees would certainly be mentioned somewhere on at least 1 martial arts site?

The only thing turning up in the results are those above mentioned sites and a whole load of book reviews.

I said it before and ill say it again absolutly no results show up from anymartial arts sites what so ever

check this search

Doesn´t really mean anything. One of my local comunity´s most prominent politician through some 30 years returns practically NO results on google either. Just pointing out that google is a wonderful tool full of limitations.

"We got about 10 ft off the ground and were hit by anti-aircraft fire" (okay lol) 10ft of the ground is not even over tree level height and if it was open ground, then how come no one scouted and seen an anti-aircraft gun in the area
***********************

Guess you've never heard of an RPG have you.
I was in Nam, I seen a lot crap over there that I can't explain.
Why don't you people give this man a chance?
Any of you being "paid" to attack?

Nope, it's Sandy

I just don't like seeing someone shot down like this, and I firmly believe that you should never say anythin in print you ain't ready and willing to say to their face.

I said it it in a previous post, I ain't trying to champion this guy, I'll wait till I see more from him. Then I'll make up my mind.

All I'm saying is that if all you people want to prove him a fake so bad, go see the man.

As I said, maybe it's the Phoenix sun, or the fact that I'm a Nam vet,

Well it seems a little coincidental that your join date is 12/28/06 and that one of your post is about keeping this thread alive.

Also I tried getting on the wintersteel site and now I am getting "page not found"

If you are a Vietnam combat vet then you have my respect.
If you are one of the many claiming to be a vet and never served then you can KMA.

There is no way to prove either through this public forum. I just wanted to let you Know where I stand.

As would I.

He looks like the kind of person that would need a seat after a few punches.

I can't stop laughing at the fact he said (in the staged interview) "we got about 10 ft of the ground and come under Anti-Aircraft fire"

Just out of curiousity, how did that go Sandrat?

Did he have much to say to you when you tried to contact him?

Actually we had a very nice talk. The guy sounds very easy going, and he answered every question I ask him.

Now on a lesser note...I see what it takes to be a moderate here..

Was that supposed to be negatively directed towards me?

I guess I'm not seeing what contribution that comment adds.

So you were able to speak with him directly?

Sounds interesting. I havn't found any "personal contact" info; do you know him directly/personally?

If you could share some of the questions and responses I'm sure many members would find it interesting.
