Well he has a £50m clause in his contract (Torres) and if Chelsea are prepared to pay that, then they can have him.
I thought our owners promised a (purported) £30m transfer kitty anyway?

I remember back last year Torres was rumoured to have handed in a transfer request to Hodgson... but I thought maybe now he'd stay?

Anyway, like I said, We don't need him.... we can get strikers who are as good and maybe one's that can play more than half a season fit?

I still don't know whether he's handed in a request, I'll go look around.... If he stays then fine, If he goes... then KERCHING!!!

We could use that money more than we could use an unhappy, uncommitted player.

Torres has NOT handed in a transfer request, as yet...

He has repeatedly stated that he will honour his contract....

He's here til at least 2013 according to his contract....

60 million?
Have him, and we'll have Aguerro, or any number of strikers in the same class.

to add - he handed in request which has been rejected - good on you NESV.

He leaves on OUR terms, not his.

Exactly.... and he's worth more than £35m too.

Chelsea are welcome to him.... they just need to cough up more £'s

there's more to this than meets the eye - something has gone very wrong, and maybe his relationship with certain other players has broken down.

I'm thinking this simply because of the timing of it.

There's rumours that he feels let down by the new owners because we have not been very active in the transfer window, and other rumours that he has fallen out with Carra - probably over the fact that Carra helped purslow push Rafa out by helping him leak things to the press.

Who knows - the timing is very odd.

Then again, Rooney, Tevez and Fabregas have all handed in transfer requests in the last year, and none of them have gone anywhere.

I know man, something is definitely up.

I was reading an article earlier and some "source" at Liverpool, supposedly a current player, was basically saying the same... that Torres had fallen out with players.
That Torres was arrogant and thought himself better than others..... that he was a selfish player but when he was in form, nobody minded.

I'm sure it's a load of crap.... but there is definitely something up.

Why wait until 72 hours before the window closes to hand in a request?

He's had all the window to do so...

F*** it man...... £50m and he can go.

We can get some decent players in for that and there's no reason we can't spend it all....

Torres wont be as big at Chelsea, mark my words.

Soooo

It's all going on today (as usual on the last day of a deadline)

Apparently Newcastle have accepted a £35m bid for Andy Carroll from us.....

Sky Sports are reporting this... and betting on the deal has been suspended.

Also there is a helicopter en route to pick up Torres for a medical at Stamford Bridge, again sky sports reports claim.

It's all gonna get rushed through.

£35 million for an injured player?

That should be an interesting medical.

Well I guess he can't have a medical?

I mean how serious is his injury... It's a thigh injury so guessing not too bad.

It's an odd one for sure, he's a good player.... and if he keeps going the way he is,he'll be fantastic.
But £35m for someone who is relatively unproven is a gamble for sure.

As I said, skysports are reporting it and I guess we'll see.

Yeah, it's nothing too serious, still a gamble though.

I have no doubt we'll get him if Torres goes, which I'm assuming he is. Although half the reports say he's in Liverpool and the other half say he's in London.

I like Carroll and the thought of him and Suarez is very pleasing.

The main problem with him though are his off the field antics. He's a Joey Barton in the making.

Kenny needs to have a word in his ear about his off the field behaviour.

I've got my eyes on the skysports transfer update thing on their website, it's got a lot of good info.
35m for Carroll seems a right rip off to me, just another example of over-inflated English player value. 50m for Torres is a good deal for Liverpool, clearly he has lost his desire, and that money could be better used.
Adam is down to 1/5 to join- that seems very likely, seeing as Blackpool have all but confirmed the signing of Andy Reid, who is basically identical- although I think it may only be on loan. I think it was 8m for Adam, they said. Young was another deal who was on the cards this morning- 15m that was- but not heard any more on that recently.
Oh, and Konchesky joined Forest on loan, funny one that.

I know man.... mouth-watering

And yes, I think if he calms down, without losing the fight and passion.... this will be a great move.
Him and Suarez could be the best pairing in the league.... without a doubt.

Here's the clockwatch

It's a Liverpool signing, but not the one we are all waiting for. The Reds have signed 17-year-old midfielder Conor Thomas from Coventry on loan until the end of the season.

Yeah I've just been reading

And It's on lfc.tv too..... an official statement from the official club site.... can we say that this is gonna happen yet?

Oh man... and I wasn't gonna get involved until tonight... until confirmations had been made.

This is all very hectic and I'm partially excited and partially worried.

We'll see how it all goes.

Well as a Newcastle fan this deal is absolutely gutting if it goes through, can blame Liverpool if they want Carrol and cant blame Ashley for taking the money, it is however obvious to me now that he planned to sell Carrol during the transfer window and this is the main reason that Chris Hughton had to be fired.

Ashley in the last eight weeks has gotten rid of one of the top coaches and young managers in the game and now has gotten rid of one of the top prospective strikers in the game, and I am not holding my breath waiting to see if he spends any money on a replacement.

We now have a yes man manager who has been succesful no where and no striker at all, with no replacement for Carrol lined up, Leon Best and Shola Ameobi come one that just barely championship quality,

I always wished Liverpool well after the Hicks and Gillet owner horrorshow, just wish it wasnt at my team expense.

Well, done and dusted.... WOW

Paid about £20-£25m too much for Carroll..... oh well, he may turn out to be a great buy, In fact I'm confident he'll do well for us.

Chelsea paid probably £10-£20m too much for Torres so that's good.

Our transfer market is insane... really, really is.

Whispers from BBC that poss getting Warnock on loan, we'll see.... I doubt it.

Not bad..... Got Suarez (world Class) and Carroll (Huge potential) for the money from the sales of Babel (never given a chance) and Torres (Hugely overrated) .... so we'll still have a decent kitty come the summer.... sweet.

Let's start to sort things out...
