Nef, I have a sneaking suspicion that you may be right and that Rafa will go 4-4-2 for at least 60 minutes.

I also think we need to put nando directly up against JT and expose his lack of pace.

I'm hoping for a good win by 2 goals - but I don't think that will happen.

IN RAFA WE TRUST

COME ON THE REDS - SHOW THE CHAVS WHAT A REAL CROWD SOUNDS LIKE!

Hope you can turn over the franchise tonight you reds!! I wanna see how low Avrams facial features get before he gets the sack!

Nasty sucker punch at the end there. own goal in the last minute. that's gotto hurt. Thought Liverpool deserved the win there too, played a blinder in the first half. real tooth and blood style. Didn't look so strong and together in the second. A few bursts in the last 10-15 minutes, but you gots to put the chances away. Torres had a few,so did Babel.

still, you can do'em at the bridge.

They got man u on saturday, so I'd expect our players to be a little fresher next week, and get the little extra space to get a goal or 2.

Poor Riise - he's been getting flak off the fans anyway this season.

Istanbul, Olympiakos, Cardiff, Anfield two weeks ago, we're at our most dangerous when we're up against it.

Gutted for JAR but it's only one goal, we showed tonight we can cause them
all kinds of problems, it will be tough but we can do it,.

Hope Fabio Aurelio can recover, he's been excellent of late and he will be a big loss but with Stevie Finnan and Sami able to come in if Rafa places Arbeloa at left back we should be fine.

It's only half-time.

Of course - but we need to pull out a little bit more in the second leg.

Take our chances.

That was a bugger there, right at the end.

Bugger.

Gutted by that at the end.

Feel so bad for JAR.

We go there and score first and its a whole new ball game. We need to go at them hard and fast. Its doable just about, I'm hoping Grant makes a flappy squad decision.

However, I will say this, if we're going to go out of the tie - say if Chelsea put two past us and we're having an off night - I want to see Carra go through Drogba properly. Nothing dangerous, just a good old fashioned proper full on tackle. I'd him to know what it feels like to actually be roughed up, rather than dropping like a stone when a fly lands on his back.

I'd love to see Drogba get taken out. Infact,i think we should bring Tony Adams out of retirement,or Duncan Ferguson. He wouldn't know what hit him.

Who needs that lot?

We have Martin Skrtel, when he clears it, it stays cleared!!

Drogba will be having nightmares about him. He's boss!

yeah good ol tommy just want to make a quick dollar that's for sure

"Prior to the 2001 season, star free-agent shortstop Alex Rodriguez, previously of the Seattle Mariners, was signed by the Rangers in the most lucrative deal in baseball history: a 10-year, US$252 million contract. "

that's why he wants to pay the best player in baseball the most amount of money and signed him to a contract worth 1/4 of a billion dollars, this money doesn't get paid to footballers, hicks isn't really over his head, he has dealt with bigger wage bills than liverpools

"Rodriguez's power hitting numbers improved with his move to Texas. In his first season with the Rangers, Alex produced one of the top offensive seasons ever for a shortstop, leading the American League with 52 HR, 133 runs scored, and 393 total bases. He became the first player since 1932 with 50 homers and 200 hits in a season, just the third shortstop to ever lead his league in homers, and was just the second AL player in the last 34 seasons (beginning 1968) to lead the league in runs, homers, and total bases; his total base figure is the most ever for a major league shortstop."

and he signed a top player too

Tom Hicks and since this IS a conspiracy site, Hicks is the good one, George Gillett is the bad one

if Hicks was so cheap he would have never signed anyone to the biggest contract in baseball history, you would never "put all your eggs into one basket" if you were cheap and the money Alex Rodriquez was getting in texas nobody in baseball was close to

parry needs to go NO MATTER WHO owns LFC, first on the list of things to worry about though should be the new stadium, arsenal seem to be rolling around in money now (which they will never spend lol) and the sooner liverpool can have 60,000+ seats the better

drogba does need to stay up too, that's why he was playing so well under mourinho, jose wasn't letting him sulk and cry all match long, good for liverpool though because a drogba that stays up is a scoring one

lampard might play out of his skin though against liverpool, i expect him to be #e against man utd but have his head straight against liverpool at the bridge, will he outclass gerrard with everything on the line though? (if someone is going to take the game into their own hands and win it, who better than stevie G?) he never did for england

and it will be sad to see Riise leave, but he was healthy on the bench against chelsea so...kinda says something that does, maybe now there's a good excuse to give him the boot after all he's done for the club and to bring in a better and younger player without any fuss

I stopped reading after that sentence, if that's what you really believe
after what that vermin has done then god help us all.

he signed the biggest and best baseball player to the biggest contract in baseball history for his team

he also funded the move of fernando torres who has been class for liverpool all year

he could have not bought anyone that transfer window and let liverpool play on, they were CL winners and finalists, but where did they finish in the league? that's right

that's why hicks wants parry out, and he has a point, the marketing of LFC stinks, why has man utd been dragging in the cash for years and years? years after liverpool dominated football, even in the last few years liverpool after winning the 2005 CL still fell behind arsenal, chelsea and man utd

parry needs to go, DIC would probably be better than hicks and GG just because they have more money to throw around without really impacting their business interests overseas, they'd toss roman money at LFC and they should with the history the club has, they'd blow chelsea out of the water IMO if they had the same amount of money roman had thrown around, just because they actually have history compared to CFC

DIC wants mourinho by the way, i was reading that, to replace rafa, IMO that's not a bad thing considering he'd probably win the league 1st season there and liverpool > porto so europe shouldn't be a problem, mourinho loves gerrard too so...

also adidas sponsors mourinho, check their dream big ads, who sponsors LFC? adidas right?

lets all sing along now "JOSE MOURINHO JOSE MOURINHO, JOSE MOURINHO JOSE MOURINHO"

You're no Liverpool fan. You're just here on a wind up.

So save your pro-Hicks propaganda for the less gullible please mate.

It never ceases to amaze me how obsessed fans of other clubs (usually mancs or bitters) seem to be by us, you're the perfect example.

how is that a wind up, it actually happened, ask anyone who knows anything about baseball tom hicks signed the biggest and best baseball player in the world at the time to the biggest contract at the time in baseball history, that's a fact

this is a wind up

Rafael Benitez's side does have the highest percentage of set-piece goals conceded - those 16 represent 62% of their total goals against. Below is a full table...

that's a problem, rafa needs to fix that to win in england

Tonights the night - it doesn't make or break our season, as we have been doing really well in the CL for the last few years, and I think we have been improving year on year.

Many other clubs around europe would love to have our CL record.

I think that we have at least one goal in us, and hopefully more, but we HAVE to score.

Rafa will probably stick with the formation that has been doing well for us (4-2-3-1) and perhaps bring in peanut and crouch after an our if we're still chasing the game.

I've also found rafa's "mind games" quite funny - he seems to be conducting them in quite a tongue in cheek way.
I just hope they don't backfire...

2-1 to the scousers.

I hope...

Got everything crossed - and its quite painful I have to add!

If it goes to penalties, I shall be hopping round my living room like a mad fool - AGAIN.

I'm hoping we score first, force them to come onto us and then hit them on the counter. I'm also hoping Crouch plays from the start.

We'll see.

OK. Nefs crazy prediction.

Riise screamer, 25 yards out, on the volley, top right hand corner.

Several off the line clearances.

Drogba scores off his backside in a goalmouth scramble.

Game ends 3-3 on aggregate

Penalties.

Anybodies guess.

Well, thats that then

Not a Lampard fan but I will give him huge kudos for taking that penalty after the week he's had.

When Babel scored I thought it was Istanbul all over again, but not to be. I won't say the best team won, but I will say they just shaded us on the night.

CL Semi Final and 4th Place. Alot of clubs would kill for that. Not a bad season but then, not a good one either.

I'm hoping Rafa gives the main guys a few extra weeks break (Stevie G and Carra need it) and plays some of the kids for the last two games. Would be good experience for them.

I see Man U winning the final.

liverpool were unlucky tonight, sami hypia had a strong shout for a penalty!

I agree with the above though, all credit to Frank Lampard for having the courage to take that penalty after the week he's had.
