Nigel Worthington claims Tottenham have failed with a 2 million bid for Crewe Alexandra's Dean Ashton.

Norwich City are also chasing Crewe's top goalscorer and Alex manager Dario Gradi has admitted there is a 'good club' in for the England Under-21 international.

Crewe will not stand in Ashton's way if the right offer comes along, although they would ideally prefer him to stay until the end of the season.

Worthington has also been speaking of his interest in Darren Bent, who is plying his trade for local rivals Ipswich Town.
