Tottenham's sporting director Frank Arnesen has admitted The North Londoners could rekindle their interest in Dutch star Mark van Bommel.

Spurs were in the race to sign the PSV Eindhoven midfielder last summer, but were scared off by his club's 5 million price-tag.

Despite interest from Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, the Holland international ended up staying with PSV, although he has steadfastly refused to sign a new contract at the club.

so far PSV are reporting no offers for the player

PSV Eindhoven have revealed they have had no offers for Mark van Bommel.

The Dutch international has been strong linked with a move away from PSV when his contract expires in the summer.

Reports in Spain have claimed Real Madrid are leading the chase for his signature, while van Bommel has been quoted as saying he would be interested in a move to Tottenham.

Haha yeah.

Well we had a bit of a heated discussion at work the other day, someone said Spurs were too good to go down.

I was like WTF?

They said the same about West Ham and we did, now Spurs has 3 players we got relegated with, Defoe, Carrick and Kanoute. They couldn't save us from the drop, even Defoe and Carrick wasn't doing it in the Championship league. So i wouldn't count on them getting Spurs out of trouble. And when you look at the rest of the team they havn't got that great a side. Naybet looks a bit suspect and so do most of the defence, thats why they called back Callum Davenport from his loan.

Round here where i live, there is tons of Spurs fans and you should have heard then at the start of the season. Saying how they was going to do a top 6 finish. I was pissin myself then and now i am even more!

Tottenham Hotspur boss Martin Jol has scotched talk of a bid for his compatriot Mark van Bommel.

Holland international van Bommel has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, with his contract at PSV Eindhoven expiring at the end of the season.

Van Bommel hinted last week that he would be attracted by a switch to North London, although reports in Spain suggested Real Madrid had won the chase for the midfielder.

PSV insist they have received no offers for the player, who seems certain to quit the Philips Stadion.

But White Hart Lane is unlikely to be his destination after Spurs chief Jol ruled out an offer for van Bommel.

Jol feels he already has enough options in his engine room and has played down the rumours suggesting he will swoop for his fellow Dutchman.

He said: "I've read the speculation but I'm not in the market for midfielders and van Bommel is a midfielder."
