Sir Alex Ferguson has escaped action from the Football Association after his half-time altercation with referee Steve Bennett as Manchester United lost 3-1 at Manchester City on Saturday. Ferguson let fly with a verbal tirade at Bennett as he lashed out at the Orpington official's handling of the Manchester derby.

The United boss was particularly annoyed by Stephen Jordan's tackle on Wayne Rooney, which saw the City man rake his studs down the striker's shin, which went unpunished.

Well he was a bit lucky as he well laid into the ref with some foul verbal abuse...

yip, i havent seen it but i have read about it and from whats been said he had a right good go at the ref, and even man utd officals are admiting something was said but not saying what exactly.

I think maybe a few years ago, he might have got into deep $hit for it, but these days man utd are sinking
