Manchester United chief executive David Gill urged 18-year-old John Obi Mikel and his representatives to clear up the mystery of the midfielder's future plans. United insist they have a binding option agreement with the young Nigerian's current club, Lyn Oslo, where he has a three-year contract.

However the situation became confused as Mikel performed a disappearing act after skipping training this morning, reportedly because he was en route to London, apparently to sign for Chelsea.

Rest of story...

He is a Utd player full stop, you can't sign a contract and decide you want to play for another club because they offer more money, doesn't work like that Jack.

Fergie should let him rot in the reserves for four years.

Under-fire Chelsea are in the dock again after being reported to FIFA by Manchester United and Lyn Oslo over the John Obi Mikel transfer wrangle. On the day the Premier League concluded their two-day hearing into Ashley Cole being 'tapping-up', Chelsea have been named along with agents John #tu and Rune Hauge in a joint complaint to the game's governing body from United and their Norwegian counterparts. Chelsea have repeatedly denied making any contact with either Mikel or #tu but if FIFA decide to launch an official probe as United will demand, the London outfit, currently on tour in Korea, will be left facing yet more damaging questions about their conduct.

Lyn Oslo kit manager Tom Erik Jorgensen has offered his opinion on the John Obi Mikel transfer row. Jorgensen, like agent Dan Fletcher, claims the Nigerian midfielder is happy to join Manchester United but is being pushed into heading for Chelsea. Even though Mikel has appeared on Sky Sports News stressing he is no longer keen on a move to Old Trafford, soon after arriving in London to stay at a hotel in the English capital, Jorgensen has indicated that this is not the player's true opinion.

Its a joke, he should go to Man United.

They should buy him and then sell him to someone like Kidderminster for a tenner on a ten year deal..

But seriously if he has signed a contract to go Man U then he will have to stick to it.

Greed!!! Thats what its all about, Chelsea have said we'll pay you more!

He's signed a deal and now he needs to honour that, if he doesn't he should be banned from playing for the length of time what his contract would have been at United!!

he saying he dont know who hes plays for, but doesnt want to go back to Lyn cos of a director

He joined his international team-mates in Paris on Tuesday and is now hoping to train his focus solely on the upcoming tournament.

The midfielder added: "I will take some time to clear my thoughts. Right now, I am concentrating on the World Cup.

"I do not know what will happen after that. As things are now I can't answer for which club I will play.

"Nobody has forced me. I am fine."

Nigerian prodigy John Mikel Obi wants Fifa to cancel the contract he signed with Manchester United so he can join Premiership champions Chelsea.

United and Chelsea are waiting for Fifa to rule over the Old Trafford club's complaint regarding Obi's transfer.

Obi is particularly unhappy with the role played by Lyn technical director Morgan Andersen in transfer.

Unless FIFA step in Utd will hold his registration so he won't be playing for anyone for at least four years which is the length of the contract.

I'd make sure it goes through out of spite and let him play reserve football against Hull.
