Manchester City are close to signing Heerenveen's Greek striker Georgios Samaras, according to the Dutch club.
Arsenal have also shown interest in the 20-year-old, who is under contract with Heerenveen until 2008, but City are said to have tabled a 4.8m deal.

have never heard of him, but City has the team playing good and i think Peare knows what hes doing when it comes to improving the team. Like knows if a player is likely to add to the team

4.8 million though, i thought Keegan had blew all their money

Well they have offered more after the deal was stalling...

They have agreed a fee of around 6million with Heerenveen for Samaras. The 20-year-old will complete his move to Eastlands subject to passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

He looks a good prospect, but so do alot of foreign players and quite a few fail to make a major impact on the Prem league. Is it because its tougher to play in?

I have seen Samaras play a few times now and he looks a decent player, perhaps a bit clumsy at times but other than that he is good.

Looking at the foriegn guys Pearce has brought in, Musampa, Riera and Samaras, i think hes done well.

Will be interesting in the summer to see who he manages to sign

We off loaded Fowler as he was a fat & lazy player on ridiculous wages. It saved us c. £40K a week to let him go - we didn't have to pay Leeds a £500k installment based on games played. He went on a free.

Obviously he's confused us by showing he can still cut it in the Prem if he actually tries - just goes to show how little he tried while at the COMS.
