So whats going on down at Maine Road?

Speculation about Stuarts Pearce's furture has already started, he has stated that he wants the manager's job on a permanent basis after Kevin Keegan stepped down a few weeks back. But he also has said that he will walk away from the club if he isn't given the job at the end of the season. The clubs chairman John Wardle insists Pearce will be given every opportunity to stake his claim to being the manager. But it would be a shame if they string him along and then dump him at the end of the season. Gordon Strachan has been linked time and time again with the job, and after turning down Pompey he might be tempted to take the position. But he has stated that he doesn't want to come out of retirement to a club that is constantly battling against relegation. Man City have some good players to build on and are quite a big club so it seems to fit Strachan's criteria..

Me personally i would go for Ian Dowie if Crystal Palace fail to hold on to their premier league status. He has said he would be tempted if a big club comes calling if they was relegated, and his family still live up in the Manchester area.

Another bit of news is that injury plagued Steve McManaman has stated that he might retire at the end of the season if his injuries don't clear up. At 33 you would have thought he had a couple of years left in him. They signed him from Real in 2003 and to be honest he has been a complete waste of money. He had a good spell for England quite a few years ago, but since then and even at Real he hasn't been that good. Well overrated to say the least and he hasn't scored one goal for them since his move lol!

looks like mcmanaman will be leaving

Steve McManaman has been told that he will not be handed a new deal with Manchester City.

McManaman has never really had the expected impact at City since arriving from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

A long term Achilles problem has blighted his fitness, and new manager Stuart Pearce has told the ex-England international that he is surplus to requirements.
