Manchester City have played down talk that Stuart Pearce will take over from Kevin Keegan when he steps down as manager.
Keegan is set to quit City when his current contract expires at the end of next season.
Pearce, who is now joint assistant-manager at The City of Manchester Stadium, has admitted he would like the manager's job when Keegan leaves.
City have already started their search for a replacement for Keegan and chief executive Alistair Mackintosh admitted they will considers all
candidates for the post.
