Liverpool's Antonio Nunez will be out for up to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery on Thursday.

The Spanish midfielder partially tore the medial ligament in his left knee in only his second training session following his arrival from Real Madrid.

He was initially expected to be out for four weeks but has suffered a setback.

the only thing i really remember about this player is that he came of the bench for Real at some point last season i think, and scored a winner with a header lol but he was supposed to be good

lets just hope when he comes back its well worth the wait

well. since he got that injury he has came back and seems to be doing well. but they player himself is wanting to make a name for himself

"It is important for me to make a name for myself," said Nunez.

"I don't want to be known as someone who was just involved in the Michael Owen deal.

"It is not every day you have the chance to play for a club like this, so I know I have to do my best.

"I was happy at Madrid - it was my team after all. But against that I wasn't playing a lot and everyone wants to play as much as possible.

"The best option for me was another big team and there wasn't much to think about when I heard Liverpool were interested.

"It was unexpected and I never imagined coming here. But Benitez called me. He didn't need to convince me and now I want to repay him."

He is a great player and it looks like Liverpool are starting to get it together. They just need another striker as Cisse is out....

i think nunez plays on the wing right? under houllier he wouldnt have got much of a chance if he was still there, but he is doing well. is he putting smicer out the team?

i guess thats one of the things now, cisse will be class in time, just some extra quality up front is needed.
