Liverpool goalkeeper Chris Kirkland could return to Coventry on loan if his former club get their way.

The England Under-21 goalkeeper, who has seen his debut for the senior side delayed by persistent injury problems, has been offered the chance to get regular football with the Coca-Cola Championship side.

Kirkland, who cost Liverpool 3million when he left Highfield Road and will earn his old club a 250,000 windfall when he finally makes his senior debut for England as part of that deal, is currently behind Jerzy Dudek in the Anfield pecking order.
