Everton: Toffees eye Aussie starlets

Two of Australia's hottest young prospects have been handed trials by Everton.

Both Kristian Sarkies and Adrian Leijer are due on Merseyside to try their luck with The Toffees.

Sarkies,18, in particular is very highly regarded and comes with a big reputation.

The goalscoring midfielder spent last season with South Melbourne and is now looking to earn a move to England.

One thing which may count against Sarkies is the fact he is a Liverpool fan and he names Steven Gerrard as his footballing hero.

Leijer, also 18, is a commanding defender and has been playing for Melbourne Knights.

Both Leijer and Sarkies - who came through the Victorian Institute of Sport together - have just finished a tour of South America with Australia's youth squad - the Young SocceRoos.
