Chelsea striker Didier Drogba will be out for about a month after undergoing a groin operation.

The big African striker limped out of the 1-0 win over Liverpool on Sunday with the problem - that will now force him to go under the knife.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho says that Drogba should be back in around four to five weeks after having the operation.

"He has an injury that the medical department found the best way to solve will be with a little surgery," Mourinho told the club website.

"But we think in four or five weeks he can be back (in action)."

26-year-old Drogba had already pulled out of Ivory Coast's World Cup qualifier against Benin, and he will now miss some vital Chelsea action.

Drogba will miss Premiership encounters with Manchester City, Blackburn and West Brom, along with the UEFA Champions League double header with CSKA Moscow.

this will be the time for mutu to prove his worth to the team i think. and they got kezman. so i think its good cover, and duff played for the republic tonight and looked fit, so he could possibly get a game somehow, not as a striker but a wide player

Yeah it will be interesting to see who he picks.

Drogba was just starting to come good aswell so i guess they will miss him.

i guess with the three forwards that will be ok to play, gudjohsen, kezman and mutu. that they will all feature

when drogba was fit, he was playing up front with gudjonheson a lot and kezman was coming on as a sub just about every match. i think mutu will feature for now.

but if mutu dont play. its going to be a real blow to him, if kezman dont, he will feel, way pay money for me to sit in the bench all the time

drogba to make sensational comeback

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is due to make his comeback from injury against Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

The Ivory Coast international has not played for The Blues since limping out of the Premiership victory over Liverpool in early October.

Well he has been out awhile and it will add competition to the side now, but will he waltz straight back in? The way Chelsea are playing he might not.

hmmm..good question TRD. to think they are top and missing a striker who is worth 24 million odds says alot i think

i think robben will be getting games along with duff. that is working for them. although. i think the pressure will be on gudjohneens. kezman dont seem to be getting much action

It will be a tough decision when everyone is fit. Duff seems to be having his best season since he has been there, Robben is awesome.

Kezman will no doubt come out of the side and if Gudjohnson fails to provide a decent amount of goals then he should get back in, but who knows.
