Chelsea: Macho moves to Rapid Vienna

Rapid Vienna have signed goalkeeper Jurgen Macho from Chelsea on a season-long loan.

The 26-year-old Austrian will replace Rapid's regular keeper Helge Payer, who injured his back and will be sidelined for at least a month.

The club's general manager Peter Schottel told club website www.skrapid.at: "Jurgen Macho arrived as a guest just for training but now that it is clear how long Helge Payer will be sidelined, he has proved very useful for us."

With Czech Republic international Petr Cech fighting Italian Carlo Cudicini for the goalkeeper's gloves at Stamford Bridge, Macho has found himself well down the pecking order at the London club.
