Blackburn Rovers defender Nils Johansson is hoping to secure a new deal at Ewood Park. The Sweden international stopper's deal expires this summer, but he would be happy to pen an extension with Mark Hughes' side. Johansson recently lost his place at left back to Dominic Matteo, however an injury to the former Leeds man has opened the door for the 25-year-old. The former Nurnberg defender prefers playing at the heart of the back line and is not unduly unhappy at being asked to play on the left side of defence.

i wonder if he is going to get this deal? hes playing cos the first choice is injured and from what i understand he is playing left back. i think when matteo comes back he will be dumped again.

is he any good? he must be pretty average if he can barely hold a place in this blackburn team

For me Matteo is a centre-back, he hasn't got the technical ability to play full-back. I think they will be having a clearout in the summer anyway so there could be a few new faces at the back.
