Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has hinted that the club will not be renewing Matt Jansen's contract when it expires in the summer.

Jansen was on the verge of the England squad when a motorcycle accident left him with severe head injuries.

Since the incident the striker has failed to regain that level, and it appears that he will be allowed to leave Rovers in the summer.

He did look good in a couple of games when he came back but has generally been disappointing. I wonder if he still can do it? Why would they let him go when they paid alot for him? They must know something or else they would persevere with him wouldn't they?

He looked a great player a few years ago and was knocking on International duty. I wonder where he will end up and if he can find any sort of form he showed before. Someone will give him a chance unless Hughes and Blackburn know he cant hack it anymore as a pro footballer.

He did look a great promise. It's a shame if he is finished as he had everything going for him. Maybe its just because he is at Blackburn and he isn't getting a chance. He might just need a regular spot in a side to get back to how he was playing.

yer, he was a talent, i think its case of can he recapture it. and if hes sitting in the bench everyweek well he wont.

maybe a loan deal down to the 1st division will help?

He will end up playing for either Harry, Bolton or West Ham!
Any reject will do.

I could see him going to somewhere like Southampton, esp if they get relegated.

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is ready to give forgotten man Matt Jansen every chance to prove himself at Ewood Park.

Jansen has not fully recovered from a serious motorcycle accident he was involved in the summer of 2002.

The 27-year-old was then flying and challenging for a place in the England squad, but the accident has threatened to end his career.

Doubt he will be anywhere near the player he was though so Prem football might be a stage too high.
