Darius Vassell has been told that he must start to score more goals by Aston Villa boss David O'Leary.
O'Leary has set Vassell a goal target this season after admitting that his haul of 10 last term is not good enough for a player of his ability.
O'Leary said: "One thing we do have is a bit of competition up front and this is good for Vassell.
"How he handles it is another question. That is when you find out about players and in this case the characters of our three strikers particularly if
they are all playing well.
"Vassell has been effective for England coming off the bench and has probably had his best games in this role.
"It is nice that he has competition here at Villa along with Carlton Cole and Juan Pablo Angel.
"What all strikers are judged on is the goals they score and he has to score a lot more this season.
"You have to look at his record. Last season he scored 10 which is not prolific as a striker.
"We know, and the lad knows, that top strikers score more than that in a season.
"He knows my target and we want him to score a lot more."
Team Talk
O'Leary is a muppett, had to get that out the way first.
He can't be motivating a player by saying things like this to the press.
