Newcastle United: Shearer hangs his boots up

Its a shame to go out like he did in picking up that injury.

It was looking on the cards that he might play for 1 more season, but its like i have spoken about with some friends of mine that when these players hit a certain age its so much harder to recover from injuries. Sheringham picked up an injury earlier on this season and last season and he missed a hell of a lot of games, where a younger player would have been back much sooner. He is still doing awesome for a 40 year old in top flight football...

As for Shearer what a great footballer and role model. He has had a fantastic career for club and country but i think he could have done much better if he had gone to a different club..
