The current problem at Newcastle is quite clear for all to see!
Players not pulling their weight, staff not in control etc...

BUT, our problem cannot be solved with a £25 million summer spending spree.

What Newcastle needs is a manager capable of controlling our stars. No disrespect to Graeme Souness, but he is not upto the challenge of taming our stars.

£25 million in the summer will destroy our team as we are quite capable of holding down a champions leauge place every season if we had the staff to make it happen.

We have some of the best players in the P/ship at St James Park and as soon as we can keep them under control (not replace them) we will once again be capable of challenging for the title.

Ok i'll take 5 mins out...

Newcastles main problem.

Too many troublemakers at the club, well not so many now as a few have been whittled out. Souness has done a great job and if i was a Newcastle supporter i would give him full backing.

Bellamy, Dyer, Bowyer.. all trouble makers. Woodgate before them.

Souness won't stand for their crap, even if they think they are world beaters. Too many players at the club with no commitment and passion to wear the black and white stripes. The only one who can hold his head up high is Alan Shearer. What a model pro he is and they are really lucky that he is going to play for another season. Souness is doing a good job at the club no doubt, you can't wave the magic wand and things happen over-night. This is what his first season?

Newcastle are a long way off from challenging for the title. But it will be interesting to see who goes and who comes to the club in the summer. Then we will see how good Souness is or how bad he is...

Good post MickeyDee,

i aint a fan of souness but i think in fairness, hes trying to get rid of the players who are up themselves. bellamy was the first to go. i think laurent robert, its only a matter of time. he preffered it under robson cos it was nice anc cosy and he got away with it.

to be honest..... with bowyer and dyer, i think the trouble maker guys got away with it too much under robson. now under souness, they dont like it and its conflict.

i look at kluivert, is there a point to him being there, i honestly cant see him turning good at newcastle and other than that. you have shearer. ameobi, hes ok but he will never be that high standard of player you need up front with shearer.

the talk of owen therefore, yer. yip. i think he would be ideal. as like bellamy, he has the pace.

look at his signings so far, nicky butt, and theres talk hes getting punted. boumsong, hes been injured i think thought for most parts. but against man utd the defense where all over the place.

the midfield. maybe a extra midfielder cos am sure there will be a change. all of them are good aswell. bowyer, dyer, robert, jenas. thats some quartet.

i think newcasltle have been a footballing team, ball on ground and play it about but i dont see it happening under souness. he usally builds team with guys who are all massive

They are not a Champions League team/squad or club.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool (I know Everton finished 4th) are a class apart so how would they break into the top four?

They need to weed out the dross and liven the place up, he is building from the back and trying to stabalize the defence and midfield. I expect some creative players to be added in the summer, but surely the main target has got to be a top quality striker?

Chelsea and Arsenal are top four yes, but the rest im not so sure!

Liverpool have showed touches of theyre former self in the C/Leauge this year but have been very inconsistant in the last few years.

And Man U are on their way to Mid-Table if they dont sort themselves out soon.

So if Newcastle were kicked into shape i think they could easily finish top four like they use to all the time!

It will take alot to kick Necastle back into shape and a minor miracle. I don't see Souness as the man to do it, but he might be able to send them on the right track.

when we talk about newcaslte getting back better etc, they aint gona be a top 4 team. i think not even a top 6.

i cant see souness making great signings, i think they need the players to be happy at the club and under souness, i dont think they are

It's not Souness!

Only Robert and Craig the Whinger are saying things in the papers.
