It looks like he will finally go, Middlesborough are believed to have won the race to sign the Yak. As the transfer window shut in January, the deal can't be disclosed until after the season has ended. A deal has been struck between the two clubs and Mandaric feels its time to cash in on him. It will be interesting to see what sort of fee they have agreed to as half is meant to go to the Yak's previous club, Maccabi Haifa. The Yak has yet to agree personal terms but it would surely be the end for Joseph-Desire Job and Szilard Nemeth if he was to join the Teesiders.

There was quite a few clubs interested in him and i'll be surprised if Middlesborough have won the race to sign him. Even at Pompey, who havn't been playing that great since Harry Redknapp left, he has managed to score alot of goals. Well worthy of a top 5 striker place in the Prem. I would have thought the likes of Arsenal might have been interested in him, or someone with ambition like Everton. The ones who was pursuing him aswell was Newcastle who seem to be lacking a bit upfront since Bellamy left. Shearer is going to retire and Kluivert has been quite a disappointment.

One big problem is where will it leave Pompey? They have been struggling of late and are hovering near the relegation zone. If they lose there main goalscoring threat at the end of the season, it could be downhill for them...

Most Pompey fans new he would leave in the summer anyway we may struggle finding a replacement, we still have Lua Lua who could fill Yaks boots next season.

So did everyone else, but did you think he would go to Middlesborough?

Also the fee is rumoured to be around the 6million mark. Pretty reasonable for Middlesborugh. I thought it would have been a little more than that..

About the fee thats far too little i mean half of it goes to Maccabi Haifa how the hell are we gonna find a striker worth 3 mill prem standard (if we are still in the premship)

i am surprised we have agreed to sell him boro i mean they arent that good( a bit better than us at present though)

Will the new manager want to let him go? Or will he not have a choice?

yer. i thought he was worth nearer the 10 million mark, thats what he was being linked to with newcastle.

if pompey go down, there wont be much need to buy a striker at 3 miliion though.

if they stay up, they need the quality to replace him and its looks like a hard job to do soo.

maybe nemeth will end up at pompey? i think middlesbrough have a few strikers who dont get a game there who could maybe go in a swap deal

Plus Jeffers might leave Charlton and the other striker they have...

I think there would be a few mid-range strikers they might be able to get, around the 2 -3 million mark... But none of them are as good as the Yak...

whos the club? is it newcasltle?

"We have had an offer from a club in the north of England, I think," said Perrin.

"I would like to keep him but maybe he has other plans.

"He has a contract with us (for two years) but if a player wants to go it is very difficult to stop him against his will.

Boro are alot better than Pompey and are making efforts to turn in the club into a regular European team so it owuld be a good move for him. As for the fee, prices are going down so 6-8m would be about right. He is awesome so will be impossbile to replace.

Jeffers might be an option but it's a gamble.
