Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric wants an answer from Michael Carrick to end the long-running saga of his proposed move from West Ham.
Pompey agreed a 3.5m fee with West Ham and have offered Carrick a package worth 9m over four years.
Mandaric told BBC Radio Solent: "He owes us an answer and I will be very disappointed if I don't hear from him in the next 24 hours.
"We've done everything we can, and we're still waiting on him."
Carrick is in his walk-year on his contract at West Ham, who are keen to raise the money from his sale.
