Middlesbrough: Boro' reject Downing bid

Middlesbrough have rejected an undisclosed bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Stewart Downing. Spurs have held a long-term interest in the England international and made a bid for the player which was rejected out of hand by Boro. The 20-year-old winger enjoyed a superb season last term, establishing himself as a first-team regular and even breaking into the full England squad.
