Dinamo Zagreb have moved to play down speculation linking midfielder Niko Kranjcar with a January move to Middlesbrough.
The 20-year-old has already been a regular for Dinamo for the past three seasons and is believed to be interesting both Barcelona and Juventus.
Reports in the Croatian media suggested that Boro are now leading the chase and that talks between the two clubs are imminent.
However, Dinamo vice-president Zdravko Mamic claimed to be unaware of any interest from the Teessiders.
Mamic told Sky Sports: "We have not had any information from Middlesbrough.
"He is the best young player in the country and we want the best for Niko.
"It is no surprise that a club from England like Middlesbrough has been spoken of, but we have not had any contact with them."
Anderlecht and CSKA Moscow are already reported to have had bids for Kranjcar rejected.
