Problems with manual counting are numerous, including: human error, simply destroying votes or losing them, cost and manpower, etc.

1) human error = do the bubble, how can you interpete a bubble wrong (we fill in the bubble, up here)

2) destroying them? lose them? if they would be counted in front of witnesses at the polling place, kinda hard to pull that off

3) the cost of manpower is the cost of a clean election, if you want a cheap election, GO TO A DICTATORSHIP.

we still use pen and paper for voting here.

I guess those pieces of paper could get lost......... but electronic voting seems strange to me.

oh and it's compulsory to vote otherwise you get fined.

where the hell is this?

Get fined?!

That's actually what happens in Australia. You are legally obligated to vote in the elections.

Make no mistake, I don't think it's all that great of an idea. I'd rather the people who care and want to educate themselves on the candidates.
