Iain Dowie has confirmed that the club are hoping to sign Ivan Kaviedes ahead of Saturday's Premiership opener at Norwich.

The Ecuador international striker flew into England at the beginning of the month and has been training with Palace in a bid to earn a permanent deal.

Dowie admits he has been very impressed by the former Celta Vigo hit-man and is aiming to wrap up a deal to take him to Selhurst Park.

However, the 26-year-old is still under contract with Barcelona de Guayaquil in his homeland, and Dowie admits there is work to be done to thrash out a deal.

Crystal Palace have continued their preparations for the new Premiership season by finalising a deal for Ecuadorian striker Ivan Kaviedes.

The South Londoners have moved for the former Celta Vigo hit-man after reaching agreement with his club Barcelona de Guayaquil.

Kaviedes has signed a one-year loan deal, with an option to extend it for a further four years.

The 26-year-old linked up with The Eagles at the start of the month after jetting in from South America, and impressed hugely during his time with the club.

Palace boss Iain Dowie has moved quickly to thrash out a deal, and Kaviedes will feature for Palace reserves at Ipswich on Tuesday after he gained his international clearance.

Premiership new-boys Crystal Palace are on the verge of taking Ecuador international Ivan Kaviedes to Selhurst Park.

The 26-year-old playmaker is set to join on a one-year loan with an option for a permanent deal and was included in the squad for the reserve-team game at Ipswich.

The former Celta Vigo star is moving from South American side Barcelona de Guayaquil after impressing on a three-week trial.
