Boxing: CALZAGHE LOOKS TO THE FUTURE

Joe Calzaghe believes his new sense of ambition will bring out the best in him as he prepares to bid farewell to a year he would rather forget.

Calzaghe defends his WBO super-middleweight title for the 15th time against Egyptian Kabary Salem at the Royal Highland Showgrounds in Edinburgh.

The 32-year-old Welshman has seen a big IBF light-heavyweight title fight go astray this year due to injury and has also endured a painful separation from his wife Mandy.

But undaunted Calzaghe is still looking forward to a much brighter new year in which he believes the world will finally realise what he has to offer.
