As you have probably all noticed, there has been somewhat of a rise in the frequency of off-topic, irrelevant posts in the S&T forum recently.
We must all work to try and counter this. The 2 types of post that are most concerning are:
1) the (pseudo)philosophical style of posts that tend to just take one thing mentioned in the thread, and proceed to rant about it while not
approaching the topic of the thread in question.
2) the little commentary posts. These are usually very closely related to the previous type, but minus the ranting. They are just the posters
opinion on the thread itself. These tend to be less destructive (ie they usually just get ignored) but are still a problem.
Clarification: By off-topic, I mean way off topic. There is a often a natural slight drift in any threads life.
Naturally this applies to a very small minority of the people that frequent this forum. I'm sure the few who display this kind of behaviour are well
known to others who have seen it.
This purpose of this post is just to request that people try that little bit harder when posting in the S&T forum. Before clicking on the Reply
button, make sure what you are going to post is relevant to the topic. A secondary purpose is also to let serial offenders know that posts of this
nature run the risk of being deleted, or warned if it persists.
On the flip side of this, there will also be a slight increase in the amount of applauds given out. This increase will bring the amount of applauds
being given out from 'bugger all' to 'maybe a couple'. Continued good solid posting can also earn point bonuses seperate from applauds.
Members should also remember to Vote for posts they consider of a good quality. This is how our Way Above awards are decided monthly.
Thankyou, feel free to u2u me with any queries regarding this.
