Boxing: Scotland set for boxing bonanza

Three top boxing shows taking place in Scotland in the space of three weeks highlights the healthy nature of the sport north of the border, according to the father and trainer of WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison.

Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Craig Docherty challenges Russian champion Boris Sinitsin for the European title at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow on October 15.

A week later in Edinburgh, the talented Alex Arthur is on the same bill as Joe Calzaghe when the Welshman makes the 15th defence of his WBO super middleweight crown.

And to cap an almost unprecedented burst of top-class fighting in Scotland, on the 29th of the month Harrison will defend his belt at the Braehead Arena against an as yet unnamed opponent.
