Why would the US want to use any of its nukes. That is crazy talk. That would be killing billions of people.

The US does have enough nukes to kill everyone on the planet. That is a big responsibility. You can't just nuke other countries whenever you feel like it. Because eventually they will nuke back and it will quickly escalate to full blown nuclear war.

very sensible response. But the world has changed. Deterrence is less a strategic weapon than before. The Former Soviet Union can't account for alot of their ordenace. There maybe devices in the hands of people who aren't afraid to use them.
