Boxing: NO MAGIC FROM MAGEE

I was very disappointed with the Brian Magee-Robin Reid fight on Saturday. Magee is a lovely kid but he has his limitations, and they were exposed in the Jerry Elliott fight last month. Those flaws were reinforced against Reid, with Magee's suspect chin letting him down on four occasions and ultimately the Irishman was lucky not to be knocked out.

Magee appeared to be afraid to go forward and throw more than one punch, while Reid was reluctant to take the fight to him. It became a fencing match, with moments of bad temper flaring up, a messy affair all in all.
