ON Corporation, the exclusive management of WBC No 2 rated light heavyweight boxer Paul "Hurricane" Briggs today confirmed that the WBC light
heavyweight world title eliminator between Paul "Hurricane" Briggs, 22 - 1 (17), and undefeated WBC No 3 rated contender, Croatian Stipe Drews, 26 - 0
(12), will go ahead in Sydney, Australia on August 15 (Sunday).
Talking from his base in Los Angeles, Briggs has spoken about the possibility of the WBC going bankrupted and also of his loyalty to the organisation
that has had many of the greatest boxers of all time as champions. He also spoke of his intention to fight new champion Antonio Tarver for the
championship before Christmas.
" It has been distressing in the past few weeks to read of the situation facing the WBC. However, I have confidence in the organisation and that the
WBC will survive and prosper to house many more great world champions in the ilk of Ali, Foreman, Lewis, Leonard, De La Hoya, the list goes on. I do
not believe that one man in Rocchigiani will bring down this great organisation."
