For someone dedicated to cleaning up boxing, Oscar De La Hoya sure was kind of quiet after the judges handed him a unanimous decision over Felix
Sturm Saturday night in Las Vegas. All three judges - Dave Moretti, Paul Smith and Mike Glienna - scored it 115-113. Curious?
Many thought Sturm should have had that score and should have gone home to Germany with his WBO middleweight title and a notch in his championship
belt. At best I thought it was a draw, but that came after De La Hoya won the last round on my scorecard. A side point: Does anyone besides me think
that DeLaHoya might have peaked at welterweight?
As Main Events boxing chief, Carl Moretti - no relationship to judge Dave - said after the match, "You didn't think they'd give it to a German on
D-Day did you?"
