Wayne McCullough's proposed bout with useful Ugandan John Mackay on June 19 is off.
'The Pocket Rocket' was set to feature on the undercard of the Audley Harrison fight card on at the Alexandra Palace, but an injury to his left hand
this week while training has scuppered the meeting.
The Belfast born McCullough (26-4) has not fought since being outpointed by Scott Harrison for the WBO featherweight title back in March of 2003, and
as he approaches his 34th birthday one wonders whether we have seen the last of this once quite brilliant pressure fighter (a former WBC bantamweight
champion).
Domestic fights against Esham Pickering or Michael Hunter would cause plenty of interest in Britain, but one wonders whether a man who has been in
with the likes of Johnny Bredahl, Daniel Zaragoza, Naseem Hamed and Erik Morales could get up for such bouts at this stage of his career.
