Kimiko Soldati and Rachelle Kunkel finished first and second, respectively, in the women's three-meter springboard Saturday at the U.S. trials to earn
a trip to Athens for the 2004 Olympics.
Soldati finished with 884.70 points, while Kunkel tallied 874.38. It is the first trip to the Olympics for both competitors.
Soldati, 30, was the oldest competitor in the trials. The former gymnast didn't start diving competitively until she was a freshman at Colorado State
12 years ago. She had suffered a torn knee ligament in high school which prompted the switch in sports.
Michelle Davison finished third and missed out on her second Olympics. She finished 12th at the 2000 Sydney Games.
