Wigan prop Craig Smith has announced he will retire from the game at the end of the current season.
The 33-year-old New Zealand international joined the club in 2002 after spells with Canterbury, South Sydney and St George-Illawarra.
Smith's decision has increased Warriors' front-row problems for next season following the recent retirement of Quentin Pongia and injury to Terry O'Connor, who is in the last year of his contract.
And Wigan were dealt a further blow on Tuesday with the news that Luke Davico, who is set to join from Canberra for the start of the next campaign, has been ruled out for the rest of 2004.
