Ireland international Kevin Maggs has been released from his contract with Bath and will now join Ulster.
Maggs, who has won 65 caps for Ireland, reached a "mutual agreement" with Bath so he could return to his homeland.
Jack Rowell, Bath's director of rugby, said: "Kevin is leaving to take advantage of an opportunity to join Ulster.
"This move will allow Kevin to fully integrate into the Irish provincial and national set up and help him further his international playing
ambitions.
"As we know Kevin has played a full part in the Irish squad for seven years and remains a key component of their midfield as was evident in South
Africa this summer.
"Given the demands of the Irish national squad this move solves the logistical problems for Kevin whose increasing commitments to Irish rugby have
meant that his opportunities for regular first-team rugby at Bath Rugby have been limited over the past 12 months."
