I'm no world cup expert, but I don't think this should hurt too bad, they are still in the tournament. Is that accurate, guys?

speaking of the Americas cup, they are building one of the boats here in my home town under very heavy security, they didn't hire any locals to work there, the whole team was brought in for the construction

Hey TJ, try to get some pictures. you might be able to sell them to the competition. Seems a little silly to me for a boat race though.

it seems silly to me as well, as i said it is all top secret, they brought in all their own people and no local help, they are not even going to put it in the water here, they are gonna wrap it up and ship it to i think Spain where they will sail it for the first time, there was only 1 article about it in the local paper

turns out that some guy who is a world class pro yacht racer had moved to town and persuaded the team to build the boat here, all this guy does is travel around the world and race in these big yachts

They must be working on some new type of hull design or something, otherwise why all the secrecy?

I don't recall, but what are the specifications that a boat must have to be in the race, anyone have a clue?

The US wound up in a grouping with perrenial power Italy, and strong teams from the Czech Republic and Ghana.

Oh man... This thread had me laughing. Typical American interest in apparently the most popular sport in the world. So, we in the World Cup? What's that? Is that like the Americas Cup?

I really don't have much interest in Soccer either, but would still like to see America do well. I guess they are playing Ghana first. Over on ATS the Europeans say thats a good thing. I would trust them to know what they are talking about.

O.K. I'm headed back to the sports I know.

hey,

yes, Gibbs your correct it is Soccer

basically its the best international teams in the world competeting in a tournament and then in the final a winner is announced

to be honest, the group the USA has is tough. Ghana are the easiest team in the group but even then, not much is known about them and other than that, one of there players cost about 27 million a few months ago. Italy are hard to beat, they can be good and they can be rubbish, tooo often they have been rubbish IMO and the Czhech Republic are awesome! a really good side. A few years ago i would say the USA would get no points here but now, the team has improved so this will be a chance to see how much they have improved

England got an easy group
