Football: Gazza admitted to hospital

New Boston signing Paul Gascoigne has been admitted to hospital with suspected food poisioning.

Gascoigne was due to be guest of honour at St James' Park as Newcastle beat Glasgow Rangers 4-2.

But Gascoigne, 37, was taken ill before the kick-off and admitted to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

Former England midfielder Paul Gascoigne was back on his feet on Sunday after being rushed to hospital.

The 37-year-old, who was taken to Newcastle' Royal Victoria Infirmary with suspected food poisoning ahead of the Newcastle Gateshead Cup clash between his home-town club and former employers Rangers on Saturday, was back at St James' Park on Sunday.

Gascoigne was cheered warmly as he walked on to the pitch ahead of the game between the Scottish side and Feyenoord to present a Rangers shirt to a young supporter.
