I received these photo's from MountainStar by email, he asked me to post them in this forum.

The creature looks cat-like, but according to MountainStar the ears don't look right.

Does anyone have an idea what this creature might be???

Is it me, or does the skull look kinda human shaped???

It could also be a dog, No?

I too see that the skull is rather roundish at least from what I can see in these photos.

does anyone know what this container is that this creature is being displayed in?

Sorry, I now realize that this is a large jar of some sort. Does anyone know the size or why it is in this container?

mountainstar said he put it in a large pickle jar...but he didn't say how big it was, I think it's only 3 inches long, judging buy that small piece of rope you see in the last pic...

It could be a dog, the legs look like it. The head looks human, but the reset of the body doesn't.

Very weird pic.

I'd guess its a cat, if I could get a better lit look at its face, particularly the jaw. It would also help if we could get a ruler or something in the picture to measure it against.

It looks like a small dog, like a chiuaua, possibly a puppy. It's had part of its head cleaved off with something like an axe. It's also been buried for a while or stick behind some wall, all the fur has dropped off.

It's clearly canine.

It looks like a dog to me, too.

What an awful site to stumble upon, especially with a child.

clearly a puppy, look at the claws and head, some small breed, born dead or died shortly after. You city folks never see dead animals or what? Every dried up carcass on the net, someone thinks is a chupacabra. Don't be dumb, people....

I found it and put it in a one gallon pickle jar, for safe keeping. From the head till the end of the body it is aproximately 5 1/2". From the head to the tail it is 7". I will try to get a better picture of the face. As it was... I had a hard time getting it in the jar, due to the position of the legs. Than I realized it was not brittle, but leather like. Now I live out in the foothills of Mount Charleston, in the high desert. My cat is old and was fixed long ago. I'm not claiming this to be a chupacabra, but it would be cool if it was!

Where it was found it was not there three months ago. It also has pearly white teeth.

THAT is a chiuaua (I don't know the proper Spanish spelling) probably died shortly after birth or, if it's a toy version, it could be a as much as a year or two old.
They only get about 6 inches long at full growth...

The round head and the feet clearly appear to be this breed. Obvioulsy I can't see all the detail but the jaw would be a great thing to look at as it would be definitive.

PEACE...

It's not a dog, look at the claws on the hind feet.
It is a dead kitten. Good find! LMAO
Ears are cartilege, which decomposes ppl.

Actually, upon looking at the picture again i must ask this:
MountainStar, are the claws on the animal pointed sharply like a cats? Or are they dull, like a dogs?

My vote, Chihuahua if dull nails
Dead kitten if sharp.

At first glance I associated the corpse with a Jersey Devil

But when I heard of the size of it I assumed it was a kitten.

Could you explain in detail the area you found it in? Any odd prints?
Also, you could take it to a Veterinarian, I'm sure it would take them two seconds to identify it.

I actually wish I was in possession of it. lol. I'm great at finding information and IDing things on the net

A mountain beaver!

Not bad for a ten minute search, no pictures though.

The possibilities are very, very open.
Take it to a vet, that's my best advice.

Hey Canuck thanks for the links. I'm going to try to upload some more pics by myself this time.
I'm in Southern Nevada near Pahrump and not that far from Area 51. I didn't mention that because I think it is something other than a kitty or a puppy either
I'm nowhere near any big city.
