Reggie White, Warren Moon, Harry Carson, John Madden and Rayfield Wright also were elected Saturday. Not since 2001 had the maximum number of candidates been chosen.

left out of the hall was Michael Irvin who has had off the field legal problems in recent years

Both very deserving, but what about Irving. In those glory days he had the ability to take control of a game....Anyone else think he should have been inducted? I am sure he will but what are we waiting for. He may have had some trouble in his day but so did plenty of DBs isn't that the picture we should look at.

White, that man was so great. I was able to hear him speak at my church one time and he was one of the most Godly men I have ever met. He was cleaning the feet of people he had never met, because it was once considered the ultimate sign of respect and it also was recognized as some form of cleansing. Do any of you know another super star athlete that would clean you feet? That should not be considered when voting because I don't think it should when the guy is a jerk. But it goes without saying that he is worthy of Canton.

i think that by leaving Irvin out of the hall again this year the voters are showing that they are human, sure he is more than deserving for his feats on the field but his off the field problems have cast a shadow over his entire career...he has disgraced not only himself but the game as a whole, i think that he will eventually get in but has no chance in a year with so many quality candidates....jmo

toejam, I do agree. You are right, this year was not a good year for Irvin. Didn't he get busted not too long ago also. Like I said he is not a very good role model but surely deserves the HOF. Like you said he will more than likely get in. Come on Michael don't let us down anymore.

Off-field issues aren't supposed to be taken into consideration for the NFL Hall Of Fame.

The biggest disappointment, IMHO? Art Monk is again overlooked for induction into the hall.

You are right Gibbs.... That is an injustice, Monk is certainly deserving of induction.
