Ice Hockey: owners to disband nhl?

For example the Maple Leafs circa the Harold Ballard years. He was a former owner. He tested the theory slowly but surely. The Leafs stunk but people still went. Those people were corporations, buying seasons tickets, using some for business, and giving some away. Thats the only way I ever got Leaf tickets, for free. I wouldn't think of trying to buy them.
