do you think that Glen Sather should stay as coach for the Rangers? I really like what he's been able to do with the team the second half of the season, i got so excited and almost thought we had a chance of getting into the playoffs cause they were playing well for that stretch.

If not who do you think should get the job for next season? Some people say we should bring back Keenan, but i dont think that would go over well with many faithful rangers fans because of his last early ending, and leaving without finishing things off

Glen Sather did an amazing job for the Rangers, even though he promised they would make the playoffs, this team did look very dangerous at time. But still overall the Rangers lacked the motivation to get to the playoffs, they had their chance. This job of this postion all relays on what the owners think. Sather did a good job.

Keenan is said to be one of the best choices for this position because of his coaching ability with the veteran players. That would be the main reason why they would bring him in. But iam still going to stay by my old choice for the job Ted Nolan. Ted in my mind would do the best job. Even if he is an assistant to Sather these two coaches will do a great job together.

The Rangers definitely need a coach that has experience and can handle all the stars on the team, they have a ton of talent but there seems to be no chemistry at all, and a big part of chemistry is the coach. Personally, I think Sather should go back upstairs and stick to being a GM. I also think Nolan would be a good choice for the Rangers, I dont know what they were thinking when they hired Trottier, you cant start out your coaching career with a roster like that. You might think its easy with all the superstars they have, but in reality its tough to get the right lines on the ice, keep all these stars happy with their ice time, etc. I'm not sure if Keenan's personality would mesh with some of the ego's on this team. I was happy though to see them golfing after the regular season for the sixth straight year. Lets face it, it's not that hard to make the playoffs in the NHL.

i'm going to try and not take that golfing remark as an insult to me as a rangers fan - but the ranges are a team that has no chemistry. It winds up being one of the key problems - i think that sather should stay as coach because he did a pretty good job the second half of the season, the team just needs to work on being able to win key games - as that is what kept them from sneaking into the palyoffs this season (that game against pittsburg - i slammed my head into the wall sooo many times that game)

i agree that keenan normally is good at controling star-filled team, but i dont really want him back.

I think Nolan was being offered the job for last season, then he suddenly backed out of the deal after all the other experienced coaches had contracts - thus causing sather to have no choice but to hire a rookie coach.

but i think sather should stay as coach, because what could be more of an inspiration to play well then to be bossed by the guy who signs your pay checks

In my mind the Rangers are a very good team they just need that coach to push them in the right direction. Hopefully in the off-season they will get their act together and come out next season and win it, or at least make it to the playoffs. They have got the talent, lets hope they can pull it together.

No insult intended rangersfreak, I was just saying as a Flyers fan I was happy to see the Rangers miss the playoffs, I assume you have a mutual dislike of the Flyers being that you are a Rangers fan. The Rangers have the talent to be a really good team, and I couldn't agree more that what they're missing is a good coach. I'm sure the Rangers will be back in the playoffs next year with all that talent. They even had injuries to Leetch, Bure, and Richter that hurt them all year.

of course i feel the same way towards the flyers, i'm a rangers fans and i've seen enough fights between fans in the garden to really make it a great rivalry. i hope that the rangers will be in the playoffs next year, it's been a really looonnngg six years for rangers fans.

And while for the most part of the season everyone kept using the "leetch, bure, richter" excuse - i think it's crap. if a player (or two or three) is injured then the team needs to figure out how to get on without that player. They need to figure out how to win without them, and sure we got hit hard with injuries - but it's not as though Bure was having an amazing start to the season - i believe he was tied with messier for goals, or something near there, and leetch is an amazing offensive defensemen, but we have a lot of good defense and we should have been able to still win. And the richter thing - he should retire by now - this is the fourth season that has had an early ending. And i put no blame on blackburn for the bad stretch we had there while he was in goal, because how the hell can you expect a 19 year old goalie, in his second year in the NHL to be able to play well for 13 games strait, some very tough games too....but once we got Dunham, he really stepped up, and proved himself to be a very good goalie

the rangers moved to 16-14 with a huge win over the pits, they win 4-1 but the big story was Jussi Markkanen making 40 save plus a pentaly shot

rangers beat the islanders 4-1 to move to 6-0 in the last 6 games agaisnt the iles...looks like the rangers have the upper hand over iles. Duhman made 18 saves in the win and has his record improved to 8-2-2

Its about time that the Rangers start to win, especailly with all that talent in the big apple. They are two games above .500 but i expected a better performace with all those stars.

bad news for the rangers as Kasparitus goes down with a knee injury, and is listed day-to-day for the rangers.

the rangers coaches changed kasparitus condition from day-to-day to 10-12 weeks.

Also in the game thorthon received an injury and should be out for only one game.

Rangers got destroyed last night as the Flyers punshed them in every aspect of the game winning 4-2

That was a big win for the Flyers up in Madison Square Garden tonight.

I just cant understand how the Rangers are not in a playoff spot with all that talent. They've missed the playoffs 6 straight years and that whole time carrying one of the league's highest salaries. If Sather doesnt turn things around soon in the Big Apple, he'll go from 2 jobs (GM, coach) to none.

I heard the Rangers are supposedly trying to lure Jaromir Jagr and his hefty contract from Washington.

They should get Jagr depending on how much of his salary the Caps will end up picking up. Also if you watched the game you heard the crowd say FIRE SATHER!!!! FIRE SATHER!!!!!

sather is gone like the wind and jagr will end up in NY

looks like you were right sportsmaster. Jagr is going to end up in NY after a trade to the Rangers yesterday. The Caps will get RW Anson Carter, who has been a dissapointment ever since going to the big apple. And Jagr well enough said about him rihgt?

Jagr is a great player in eery aspect of the game.

Can he lift the rangers to the playoffs for the first time in 7 years?

they will be a better team because of jagr and his scoring ability, but it still doesn't help there problems on the defensive side. If sather can get his team into shape they can make it, they have the talent.

Did anyone see Jagr's debut for the Rangers tonight against Ottawa?

They got blown out 9-1!!!

They have two very young, inexperienced goalies right now with Dunham out, I'm sure that had alot to do with it. But this cant be good for the Rangers and their fans, what is that 6 losses in a row now?
