I agree with you. The man certainly deserves it. The only thing I'm concerned about is the modern overemphasis on winning. I've already heard
people on TV and radio say that Ryan Howard will only get the MVP if the Phillies make the playoffs. He deserves it no matter what. I mean,
the Phils basically had a garage sale and cleaned house--a clear sign they were trying to rebuild. Then Howard lifted the team to his shoulders and
carried them where they are right now.
Howard is putting up unbelievable numbers. Obviously its the suspicion of doubt about any home run records that will destroy him. If you really
think about it the number of home runs he's hit and the chance for him to hit 61 should be a lot more important than the media fest on Mcwire and
Sosa. Maybe it's the small market or the presumance of guilt but that guy is tearing it up to historical preportions. Hopefully he can regain some
credibility to baseball heroes in general.
I think it's fairly obvious this guy is clean. And what makes his accomplishments so great, is that this is all in his 2nd season, and if I remember
right, his 1st complete season. He'll get at least 60... only needs 4 the rest of the month.
Howard is in the NL, while Jeter and Ortiz are in the AL... so they won't affect anything with the voting for Howard. If the Phillies make the WC,
then Howard will get the MVP... and he should anyway as he'd finish with 150 rbi and 60 HR's.
