In 1963 the was a game Warren Spahn versus Juan Marichal. The game went 16 innings and they each went the distance! The Giants won 1-0 on a Mays homer in the bottom of the 16th. That's the kind of gutsy performance you don't see anymore from pitchers.

There are pitchers that would do this, but managers fear for them, which is why they don't do it. Livan Hernandez could do it. He pithed in the 150's numerous times.

there are few pitchers today who can....back the it was always a 4 man rotation and a lot of complete games

I don't think we will ever see another pitching performance like that one, not because pitchers aren't physically able to do it, but because managers simply won't put their starters in "jeopardy."

or maybe they don't want to see their starters in "wheel of fortune"

I believe they both had more than 300 pitches, and some say nolan ryan threw more than 300 on several occasions (lots of walks and k's) which is three times more than today's norm...jeez what happened there

I too have heard of astronomical pitching totals for one game, but I ahave never heard 300. I have heard of Nolan Ryan throwing in the 200s though.

Oh my god. How could they let him throw that many pitches at the speed in which he threw the ball. He would throw his arm out.

So my post count is a 'milestone'? I could be well into the thousands, but I typically only post in subjects that interet me and that I can post a good quality one. I'd think TRD's would be a better goal... he only has 26000

I like John Kruk. Did you know he's a .300 career hitter?

Though it does get annoying that every team he says is done like half way through the season like wins the World Series.
