8-11 (7 games behind Red Sox) and 29-9 since (3.5 games ahead of the Red Sox).

I don't know about unstoppable but things are starting to click in the Bronx and I'm sure we'll see alot more offensive output from that lineup. Sheffield, ARod, and Jeter have seemed to snap out of their early season slumps and Matsui is hitting the ball well too. Posada still hasn't quite been his self.

The pitching staff has been pretty consistent thus far. Contreras won today but he has been getting shelled, he didnt make it out of the first inning in his previous start.

I thought that Posada never really was all that great

What a dramatic win today for the Bronx Bombers.

It was David Wells vs Javier Vazquez, the Padres making a rare appearance at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees were down 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th when Matsui and Lofton hit back-to-back homeruns to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

Then the Padres got 3 runs in the top of the 12th on hits by Loretta and Giles.

Bottom of the 12th inning for the Yankees:

- B Williams walked
- D Jeter doubled
- A Rodriguez grounded out to third, Williams scored.
- G Sheffield singled
- J Giambi singled to center, D Jeter scored, Sheffield to third.
- J Posada doubled to right, GSheffield scored, J Giambi to third.
- R Sierra hit sacrifice fly to center, JGiambi scored.

Yankees win 6-5.
