Who would you consider to be the best hitter in baseball?

Style, Power, Aggression etc etc

There is so many to choose from but which one stands out for you?

What about Ted Williams?

He was one of the purest hitters there ever was.

On players today..

If you go purely on consistency(average)...my vote would go to

Ichiro

For all-around best hitter, meaning power, K/BB ratio, and xtra base hits, I'd go with ARod.

Do the players hitting power change this season, because some of the players were taking "steriods" that they didnt actually know that they were taking them?

I would have to also go with Pujols. This kid is gonna be something spectacular.

did anyone forget the man who is on the brink of breaking the alltime homerun record??
Mr. Barry Bonds, clearly the most talented hitter of the time.
But all time it would have to go with Ted Williams

my vote will not go to the "Roid Rager" whether he knew that the "suplements" he takes were steroids or not he still took them and thus he is tainted.

is it possible that they will take away his stats?

How can you even start acussing the man?
What about all the others?
What was the stat that Jose Cansco put out? Up to 80 percent use steroids in the Major Leagues.
So I guess these four men are the only ones ditibuting to over 3/4 of the league.
This is America and Barry is innocent until proven guilty.
I pesonaly hope tha the is not found with the dirty drug in his body... only time can tell

Bonds took it no doubt, they havn't decided yet if they are going after the players and that just isn't in baseball it all sports all over the world.

I personally think they won't they would have to ban so many there wouldn't be enough players, sportsmen, sportswomen left....

have to agree, if any major leaguer is found with steriods i feel he should receive an immediate lifetime ban and his records and stats purged from the books, the athelete is the one responsible for his own body

Even if the players stated that its the Trainers fault. Wouldnt you think to ask hey what kindof supplements are you giving me? What does this do? Is it illegal? That is just some plain old common sense isnt it? Players are responbsible for their bodies. How will they even start by finding out who is doing these drugs?

Ben they test players all the time,at the moment they are testing samples for the drug THG..Don't worry they will catch them that's if they want to..

At the moment Greg Rudeski and Dwain Chambers are up on charges and will face bans for taking it and they are two of Britains top stars in their respective sports.

It has to be done unless you want to see sport descend into a competition between chemists.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) has written to all international sports federations and all national anti-doping agencies, encouraging them to analyse currently-stored samples for the presence of THG.

British footballers undergoing drugs tests will have their samples checked for THG from now on.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is to re-test all urine samples given at this year's World Championships for THG.

World Cup Rugby officials are to begin testing for THG. The competition's anti-doping committee said new laboratory procedures developed to analyse the drug were being implemented in Sydney. The test will be applied to all new samples collected and could be retroactive to earlier samples.

The International Cycling Union has made no specific comments on THG so far, but it announced last month that Wada is no longer welcome at its events.

Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig plans to seek more information on the federal grand jury probe of Balco, the company believed to be the source of THG.New York Yankees' star Jason Giambi and San Francisco Giants' Barry Bonds have both been called to testify at the hearing that is ongoing at the moment ivolving the coaches/trainers.

The National Football League might retest its existing samples for THG.Steroid use is banned by the NFL, and those players caught using them can be suspended.

World governing body Fina is looking in to the possibility of re-testing all urine samples taken at the World Championships in July. The organisation is carrying out its own study into the steroid before deciding whether to go ahead with testing.

So you see it will have a major impact on sport as we know it if they go after the players.....

Well obviously the testing isnt working at all because the atlthetes have been gettign away with it. That is my point. Bonds or others have been dealing with this stuff for a while and they just catch it now!!! There is some fishy going on here.

Ben they only just found out about this new drug THG,it only became known recently when an anonymous coach handed in a syringe of the substance to authorities. So who knows how long sportstars had been taking it,nothing fishy about it at all, just that people have been cheating and using performance enhanced drugs for a while it seems.

If you read my post carefully some of the different sports governing body's are not even testing for it yet or have only just started to.The testing is working as now they know what the drug is and what to look for they are starting to catch them.!!!

See the problem is a new generation of undetectable drugs is threatening the validity of sport across the world.Athletes are able to use human growth hormone (HGH) with impunity because it does not show up in existing dope tests. HGH is outlawed by the International Olympic Committee in Athletics but not in other sports and is easily available over the internet. Its abuse is presently impossible to detect because it occurs naturally in the human body.

All the time, athletes and the shady trainers/coaches and medical characters who are advising them are always trying to stay one step ahead of the field. They are always looking for new ways of avoiding detection. This is because the rewards in sport at the highest level are so high, sportsmen/women almost become blind both to the possibility of being detected and also the potential side-effects on their body...
