The A's let their closer from the last few years Billy Koch go after last season and they signed Keith Foulke from the Chicago WhiteSox to be their new closer.

If you're unsure what a closer is, he is the pitcher that comes in usually in the ninth inning to finish the game. He usually is a big pitcher that throws alot of heat. If his team is up by one, two, or three runs when he finishes the game, he earns a "save".

TRD, thats why I was telling you to get a reliever in our fantasy league. A starting pitcher usually only pitches once every five games, where the closer has the opportunity to pitch every night. He usually only pitches one inning, but he still gets 10 points for a save. You will rarely see a team use their closer when they are losing.

A's up 6-3 in the 9th

Jermaine Dye was put on the 15-day disabled list with torn knee cartilage today.

It seems when they get on a roll something like this happens,but another good result last night let's hope they can keep going..

Tied 3-3 today so far i will check it later be good to make it 3 out of 3...

That would be a great result against Cleveland!

-T Long doubled to right center, E Durazo scored

Tied 3-3 in the 9th and the A's nicked it 4-3....Great Result

Yeah nice job. A little shaky there in the late innings though.

Ex-A Jason Giambi hits the 2-run shot to tie the game in Bottom of the 9th.

But Eric Chavez bails them out with a 2-run shot of his own in the Top of the 10th!

Yeah, Barry Zito really shut the Yanks down today, A's are looking good.

Still along way to go but my 9/2 i got on them don't look to bad now!!!

Another win for the A's today beating chicago sox..2-1 in the series so that ain't bad..

Tejeda has started to swing the bat now so they are starting to look good again after the bad run they had..

They've now beaten New York 3 out of 4 times this year.

Yes Fox thats nice to see,the yankees were playing well what with that 10 run innings the other day.

Big pitching duel tonight, Barry Zito for the A's and Roger Rocket Clemens for the Yanks. Should be a great game, I hope its on ESPN.

Mark Mulder pitched a gem today against the Yankees, he allowed three hits in eight innings to win his fifth straight start. Oakland won the game 5-2.

Oakland has a great pitching staff with Mulder, Barry Zito, Tim Hudson, Ted Lilly, and closer Keith Foulke.
