I have never heard anything like you are describing.

VOR audio?
Maybe a Radio Club signal detector location finding fling?

Did you post a recording of it?

No. we were just sitting in our car listening to it on the radio each time. I cannot recall ever receiving or finding the signal while anywhere but in a car.
Sadly I did not have any devices with to record the audio. At the time didn't really consider recording it. Just was curious as to what the hell it could be.
